The Story
Green Seaham Seaglass Dangly Earrings
These pretty earrings contain glass collected on the north east coast in varying shades of bottle green. The glass (which would have been discarded and tossed into the sea from Victorian Bottle factories) is now suspended in a wire cage made from silver plated wire. This cage then hangs from sterling silver earring hooks.
Each pair alters slightly in size as the cages are made to fit the glass which has been shaped naturally over the years by the action of the sea. Some of the cages are therefore round like balls, whilst others are more oval in appearance. Each pair of earrings however contains pieces of glass which are as closely matched in size and colour to each other as is possible.
