The Story
Rockall, Shannon, Humber, Tyne. The Shipping Forecast is weather translated into poetry.
This beautiful map of the Forecast was originally hand drawn by artist Kevin Sheehan of Manuscript Maps, and is here printed as a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle.
The map shows the BBC Radio 4 and Met Office Shipping Forecast regions including their coordinates, and also includes the coastal weather stations of the British Isles, the Inshore Waters, Beaufort Scale, and maritime signal flags. The map isĀ decorated with two ships, a medieval style whale and wind-blowing head, a gannet, a compass rose, and an old-fashioned radio playing Sailing By. A cartouche gives a history of the forecast.
