The Story
A Vibrant Display of Translucent Colour & Modern Resin Art
Hand-turned in our Yorkshire workshop, this piece is a playful departure from our traditional timber work, celebrating the pure versatility of resin. The bowl features a base of translucent forest-green resin, suspended with vibrant, multi-coloured blocks of resin, containing some offcuts of mallee burr for added interest, that create a striking "terrazzo" or stained-glass effect. When backlit, the colours glow with intensity, making this a truly modern statement piece that brings a pop of joy to any room.
Technically, this bowl represents a "double-cast" process. We first cast individual blocks of coloured resin, which are then arranged and re-cast within the liquid green resin. Once cured, the solid blank is turned on the lathe and polished to a satin finish. This process ensures the surface is incredibly tactile and smooth, showcasing the depth and clarity of the materials without the interruption of wood grain.
